WATER

The normal way to receive supply of water to your property is to sign a contract with a local company, whICH will probably have an agreement with the local Town Hall (Ayuntamiento).

For the resale property you can ask the seller which company he was using, in case of new development all the information you will probably receive from the builder.

The best way is to go the Town Hall and as which company operates in your area.

The following documents will help you to contract the water:

  • Photocopy of your passport, NIE or DNI
  • Original title deed (esctritura) of the property in your name (some cases copy)
  • Original deed of the constitution of the company and copy of C.I.F number (if the property is on your company name.
  • Official water installation certificate (boletín del agua)
  • Licencia de apertura – opening licence
  • Licencia de primera ocupación – licence of first ocupation
  • Licencia de obra – planning permission
  • The contract fee (depends on the water company)
  • Bank details so the bills can be paid straight from your bank and you avoid cutting off the water supply.
  • Authorization from the owner for the person who will obtain the contract instead of the owner.

Note that some companies do not need all the above mentioned documents.
